Could some tell me...
If I have new tapes - and I label one of them - can I Append to this tape?
The reason I ask - is that we have a number of tapes - NEW and OLD - some of the tapes have an Append time of zero - even though they erased/labelled and placed in a group which has an INFINITE append time. It's very hit or miss - I realise that an append time of zero suggests that the tape is full - but these tapes have just been erased then labelled (overkill I know).
My solution has been to write a small piece of data onto the start of the tape (with the job set to overwrite) - but even then the Append time sometimes drops to zero - and only a few Gb has been written to the tape.
We are using V8.0 but are considering moving to Arcserve (better the devil you know).
Has anyone seen a similar problem ????
