Could any one help in how to append files to tape?? "Backup" format will always overwrite the tape ie backup without tape rewind (/dev/rmt0.1)

cheers
Promise

If you mean that you want to append backup files one after the other, then /dev/rmt0.1 should work, unless you are ejecting the tape between backups, or doing some other tape operation.

If there is already a backup on the tape you want to preserve, then 'tctl fsf 1' to skip over it.
