Hi

Has anyone got a repository to work for the applications updates?

I have configured a web server and placed the .rpm files in it.
I can get a directory listing via a web browser, and see the files.
WebControl does not report any errors, but does not seem to see the new files, saying that the 6.1 files are the latest available, and not the 7.0 that I uploaded!

Any ideas?
Cheers

have you added a definition file for the repositoriy into /etc/yum.repos.d ?

you may be best asking on the linux-server forum for full instructions on how to create and share a yum repository.

Hi

I was just trying to do a repository for the one-X portal application.
I dont think a YUM repository is required for that, only for the CentOS OS files. According to the docs anyway!

the command createrepo is used to format the repository directory correctly but yum still needs to know where to find it.

(centos/redhat use yum to manager updates. as far as I can see the Avaya web portal is just a fancy front end to eliminate the need for linux knowledge)

google for yum create repo for further information

log into web control, go to settings, browse for the rpm file, click add, then update.

did it this way at trial stage but not since. I've just slung the DVD and upgraded that way since!!

yes, I tried with the new DVD but that didnt work either!

I tried uploading the file as you say, but it wouldnt upgrade, came up with a timeout error.

Stuck with no one-X portal now, think the download may have been corrupt, but the .iso burned OK and the install verified the disc OK.

I think the TCO of the IPO is rising.....

Just connect with SSH to the server.
Copy all .rpm's to the right folder.
Go to the webpage and update everything.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Well I am now trying to upgrade by rebooting with the new DVD in.
7.0.10.2

I boots OK, asks for language and keyboard, checks the DVD and then comes up with error opening \dev\fb0 no such file or directory.

The machine then reboots.

anyone else come across this?

I have downloaded and burned DVD twice, so I am sure thye data on the DVD is good!

sounds like you might need to reinstall.

All of the above should work fine

Thing is it doesnt even get as far as asking for re-install or upgrade.

I re-istalled 6.1 yesterday from scratch to be sure, that worked OK...

Still the 7.0 DVD will not run though

It sounds like a corrupt download.
Try a new download.

This is the second download.
Both give identical results too.

Try to setup a virtual machine and see what happens on that server.
I have done it a couple of time already with 7.0 and i did not have this problem.

N different machine will not be an option in this case.

I re-downloaded from a different ISP, burned an new DVD with a different .iso burner, and that one will not even boot correctly!

How do I connect via SSH as suggested aboive?

HTTP Application Repository - does not work
Connect via SSH - does not work
Upgrade by file upload - does not work
Upgrade by re-install with DVD - does not work

Seriously p**sed off with this now.

This is not an Avaya issue, it is a hardware issue for sure.
That is why i asked to try different hardware!

It is easy to blame Avaya in this case.
I have done the install about twenty times already if not more and it never ever failed.

And this is from the install doc about repo's

Code:
2.11.4 Creating Remote Software Repositories
Alternatively to using local files uploaded to the server for updates, the server can be configured to display the
versions of files available for use in remote file folders hosted on an HTTP server.
Creating an Application Update Repository
As an alternative to uploading individual .rpm files to the IP Office Application Server, sets of .rpm files can be stored in
folders on an HTTP server. The IP Office Application Server is then given the URL of the folders and checks that location
for possible updates.
1. Create a folder on the web server for the remote file repository. For example a folder called Applications.
2. If the folder is a sub-folder of the existing web site it will be browseable as part of that website's URL, ie. if the
folder is a sub-folder of [URL unfurl="true"]wwwroot.[/URL] If the folder is on a separate path, then it must be mapped to the web server
URL path, the process for this will depend on the HTTP server being used.
3. The folder directory must be browseable. For example, in IIS right -click on the folder, select Properties and
ensure that Directory Browse option is selected.
4. Copy the .rpm files from their source into the folder.
5. From another PC, test that you can browse to the URL of the folder and that the list of files in the folder is
displayed.
6. Login to the IP Office Application Server web configuration pages.
7.Select Settings and then General.
8.Uncheck the Local checkbox for Applications. Enter the URL of the HTTP server folder into the preceding field.
9.Click Save.
10.Select Updates.
11.If the IP Office Application Server is able to access the HTTP folder, the details of versions available will now reflect
this available in that folder. The message repository error indicates that the IP Office Application Server was not
able to connect to the folder or not able to list the files in the folder.
Creating an Windows Client Repository
The process is the similar to that shown above for application .rpm files. However a separate folder on the HTTP server
must be used and the files placed in it are the .exe files used for installing the Windows applications.
Creating an Operating System Repository
The repository for operating system updates is different from those used for application updates and Windows clients. It
must be a YUM repository, details of how to setup and configure a YUM repository will depend on the version of Linux
being used on the HTTP server. Each time an .rpm file is added, deleted or changed, the directory must be updated using
the createrepo <folder_path> command.
In order to host the repository on a Windows web server, the folder must be setup and maintained on a Linux server
where the createrepo command can be used and the folder then copied to the Windows server.

Our in house is Linux and a good few customers now. Doing another on monday. Never been an issue to install or upgrade.

OK on Monday I will flatten my Ubuntu Linux box and re-use to see if R7 will install on that one.
Bloody frustrating!

Thanks for all the tips, hopefully I can get sorted!

OK

So I use my old (OLD, 7yrs +) HP and it installs fine.
Had to find a DVD drive and another 1.5GB RAM for it 1st, it's that old.

Wierd as it was on a fairly new Dell before and even though 6.1 installed without issues, 7.0 just would not go.

I wont even pretend to understand why as I am not a Linux guru, but thanks for the help!
