api shellexecute will not maximize

I am truly confused here I am using the shellexecute to load a different database so I can use the forms.
it took me a while but I finally got it to work how I want except for one thing.
when I use the shellexecute command it loads the window but only over half the screen it looks very unprofessional I can not get it to maximize automatically.
i am using the 3 that is suppose to mean maximize but it makes no difference.
any suggestions?
I am using xp if that\makes a difference.

Try using the following in all you Apps Startup Form's "On Activate" event. Will guarantee they always open maximized.

DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdAppMaximize 'maximizes application window
DoCmd.Maximize 'maxizes form window
