API - Burner

Hello,

I went through college for vb not more than 2 months ago...and we didn't even talk about api, let alone how to use it. Where could I go to learn about it?

Also...I am going to try to make my own cd-burner. I feel if I learn api, or get the specific api functions i need, i can do it.

Anyone know anything that could help me, or a resource I could look at?
