APE backups are failing for this APE unit. Reviewing the log files it shows one of the first steps is to DDRSM copy Area E to Area J of disk.
This is failing with an inconsistency error. I have tried all sorts of steps with no luck to get this to pass.
I did perform a STA-COPY of area E to area J which worked but the next DDRSM still failed. Review the attached text file to see all particulars that would be relevant to this question. I think so anyway...thanks

Hi,
It may be that the Unix is copying to that area and has taken control of it?

As you know it has to be deactivated before writing to it (DEA-DSSM:A1,1,J;)

Try getting the UW7 to write to it via backup/restore and see if it fixes it.
If not and you need your backups to area J then a new HDD would have to be prepared.

Extract from V2.0 notes regarding GLA setup on IPDA

.13.17.1 Generating the GLA
After completing the basic configuration, you must generate the "Golden Load Area" on the ba-
sis of this configuration.
● Start the Internet Explorer on the service PC and open the URL
" where the x’s represent the DSCXL’s configured IP address.
● Use the Web browser to display the HiPath 4000 Assistant start page and log in with the
user ID "rsta" .
● In the left menu bar, select the function area Software Management.
● Select the application HiPath 4000 Backup & Restore provided as a submenu option un-
der Software Management.
● In the HiPath Backup & Restore user interface, select the function GLA/PDS.
● Select the items Copy HD-PDS -> GLA and Option RMX-UPDATE.
● Click Start now and wait for the copy procedure to finish (approximately 15 minutes).

Correct me if I'm (probably) wrong, but I have some Siemens docs I'm too lazy to look up about hard drive cloning in a duplex system and other disaster management stuff. I seem to recall them saying the GLA backup should only be done immediately after a system boot. The presumption was to assure the system is bootable from that before doig a backup

Hi Don -
That is probably sound advice but few locations can afford a reboot just to test before copying to the GLA.
Although an APE Hard Disk should probably be tested that way alright.
