I am attempting to set up a APC UPS to a port on our new SEB Netpath modem. We are going from a serial port on the network card on the APC to an RJ 45 port on the back of the SEB. I am sure this will require a DB-9 to RJ-45 cable. Is there anyone there who might have done this and knows the pinout of this cable? Looking to share your trials and tribulations and any possible ideas.

Thanks,

Soop

The NetPath host ports are configured as DTE.

Here are signals on a DB9 from a NetPath RJ45. Note: If the UPS serial port does not provide DSR, you will need to loop back the DSR & RTS signals in the DB9 connector (pins 6&7)

DB9 PIN # Function RJ45 PIN #
1 DCD (in) 2
2 RD (in) 5
3 SD (out) 6
4 DTR (out) 3
5 GRD 4
6 DSR (in) 1
7 RTS (out) 8
8 CTS (in) 7
9 Not Used
