I get a successful "httpd started" message when i run apache, but i still will get that message even if i remove *ALL* the configuration files.

I have determined that no matter how i edit httpd.conf , i will still get the "Test page for apache installation" when i go to my domain. After trying to find the right configuration , i realized it didnt matter what i put in httpd.conf , because it wasnt making a difference.

I even tried to remove all the files in /apache/htdocs , it still will display the test page for apache installation.

PLease help me!, maybe i missed something..

Ive discovered apache was looking for httpd.conf in /etc/apache/ , and after looking at some old messages in this forum, ive determined that i probably installed apache twice, or possibly two versions of apache.

I am running a slackware linux system, and have installed apache(s) from a tarball(s) file(s). Is there any suggestions as to how i would completely remove apache from my system and completely re-install ?

THanks!
