Apache Tomcat failures

we have apache-tomcat-4.1.39 running on AIX Version 5.3,Oracle 10g DB and Remedy Version 6.03.00 patch 016 application.Mostly tomcat fails and we have to start it in the command line what could be the problem?
Kindly assist.
