Apache starts fine as service - no errors
open browser - - nothing
open browser - - nothing

Go to Services
Stop Apache - stops
Restart Apache - starts - no errors
Open browser - works fine.

Any ideas why the server won't serve pages right from the start. The system is only used for testing, but it concerns me. I like a service to work correctly.

Hi,

Do you get any clues from the logs ? I.e. the files in C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache\logs (or wherever else you have apache installed).

Also, what does 'netstat -ap TCP' show ? Is there a listening process on port 80 ?

Have you tried stopping the service and running in a console to see if that works instead ?

Hope this helps

Thanks ifincham,

On the last reboot of the machine I checked the error log - no error.
So I started the browser and then check the error log again, the error log shows:

(22)Invalid argument: accept: (client socket) failed with errno = 10022

I did a search on apache.org and found there is bug already reported (PR#8473) on this, and many posts about it. Google didn't find it though, it always helps to RTFM or the creators website in this case!

Apache must not like Win2kP sp2. It is only for testing purposes anyway.
