Use the mod_rewrite that is in Apache.
Here is a good guide on URL rewriting with mod_rewrite:
The entry in the httpd.conf file will probably be something like this
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^/ (not positive on syntax -- didnot test it)
OR
you could just change the DNS record of host1.mydomain.com to be a CNAME/Alias of That is if host1 isnt used for any other services.
