Dear reader,

I'm sort a new at this field.

I have windows 98 and has Microsoft Personal Web Server on it. I'm planning to write and run some PHP scripts and test it out and eventually post it on the web hosting server that's unix system with apache server. Since I tested out my script with Personal Web Server, does this mean that I need to modify (or reconfigure) my script to run in Apache server??

Is there much advantage to having Apache server compared to Personal Web Server?

Thanks

Steve

Apache is a full blown web server where WPS is used more for personal use. Apache is the most popular web server on the net and is used more that all the other servers combined. You won't need to port your php script to apache or linux since it is an interpreted language and each platform has their own interpreter. There are just a few things that would be platform specific such as calls to the mail server. For the most part, your script should run on any platform.
