Hello ... Sorry if this is not the right place to ask.

I have a question. I want to develop an online fault logging system, using MySql, Apache and PHP. My first question is can I do this on a Windows Platform? Can this software be downloaded for free? if so, where from?

My second question is if/when I have a apache web server up an running on a windows 2000 platform, do I need to have a fixed ip address? Currently, I am on a dial-up connection.

Many thanks

Asad

Mysql = free = PHP = free = Apache = free =
All of them supported on Windows and *nix/linux

Not to have apache running, but if you want customers/clients to visit your pages, what IP to go?
Anyway, apache requires that you have a ethernet card OR dial-up network must be running in order to run apache.

Hope this helps.

cheers.

Yes, they run on all sorts of platforms. For your customers to contact you, you'll want to set up a DNS name. Since you're undoubtedly getting a different address each time you connect, look at DynDNS ( or some of the other dynamic DNS companies. That way your public DNS name will "adapt" to your changing IP address.
