i just set up a router in my new apartment, and i run apache 1.3.20 on windows (with php 4.04), and it was fine at my house until i moved. now when i run apache, it looks fine but then closes immediately. i did 'test configuration' and it checks out ok, so i have no clue what the prob is.

it was fine until i moved, and i didn't change a thing. what could be causing this and how can i fix it?

thanks

Did you set apache to bind to a specific address and then change the IP of the boxes?

(Its one idea... but would need more info, error logs, etc to be sure...)

here's what's in the error log every time i try to run apache:

[Mon Aug 27 12:54:08 2001] [crit] (2)No such file or directory: make_sock: could not bind to address 24.169.82.7 port 80

the IP to the router is 24.169.82.7 and port 80 forwards to my computer (192.168.1.101)

i deleted all those index pages for other countries, but i dont think that could have been the problem.

You cant bind to 24.169.82.7 because it is NOT on the machine... you need to bind apache to 192.168.1.101

If you do ifconfig you cannot bind apache to anything that does not show up in that ... make sense?

i uninstalled apache and reinstalled it and it's fine now. thnx anyways

RIGHT...
because by default apache binds to every interface it sees on port 80...
