Apache on AIX : how to resolve external symbols ?

How can I "add" new external symbols to the httpd.exp file like ap_custom_response or ap_uuencode ? or how can I resolve these external symbols ?


AIX 4.3.3 ml 09
Apache http server from AIX Bonus pack : http_server.base.rte 1.3.12.0

but I know the redbook sg24-5132-00.There is effectively a chapter which instructs how to build an Apache module and how to integrate it.
But I find nowhere the correlation between the external symbols ap_custom_response / ap_uuencode and some kind of module .
