Apache install Problems Windows 2000

I've spent a long time struggling with the install for Apache 2.0.54 on my Dell 610 laptop. The install program gets to the stage where it is installing shortcuts, and then healts there. I have tried different downloads of the MSI file and earlier versions, all seem to get stuck at the same point.

Other information:
My Windows 2000 install is running Service Pack 4

I have tried compilling the Source Code with VB.net 2002 but this hasn't helped me, (possibly beyond my current limits)

have you tried an older version of apache 2? I havent installed .54, i think i have 2.0.48 (from memory) installed on my web server (win2000) and have had no problems with the install.

I have the version .48 install if you can't find an old one?

I have tried 1.3.33 getting the same problem. But I'll look out .48 and give it a go. You never know.

hmm that doesnt sound good at all. I had 1.3x running for ages on win2000 before i upgraded to 2.x

Sounds like you might have an issue with your Dell?
