apache htaccess log files

is there a way to capture the "user name" and the "date/time" when the user accessed the file in apache?
i am using a linux box where i am creating at least 10 users who are allowed access to the script but i need to capture the script and store them in a database but i need to know when they logged in and some of their actions.
