Apache .htaccess Internal Server Error Problem

I am having problems with the Apache configuration on a Cobolt RaQ server. I am trying to set up a .htaccess file on a site with the following :

ErrorDocument 404 /404.html
Options -Indexes

This works absolutely fine on any sites that are set up with Frontpage Extensions, but the server generates an Internal Server Error on my other sites. A .htaccess with just the Options directive does not cause the problem, so it appears to be some conflict with the ErrorDocument handing setup.

Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?

Hi mate,

There could be quite a few things causing this..

If you are getting an internal server error, what does your error log say? Logs are your friend and should always be checked before you ask for help. If you receive an error and don't understand it or don't know how to fix it, post the relevant errors here and we can help a lot quicker.
