Hi Guys,

I am just wondering what would cause an apache server to hang?.

It worked fine for weeks, then all of a sudden it starts to hang. When this happens I have to ssh into the server and restart apache. Once it has been restarted it works fine for a few hours and then hangs again

Anyone knows why this would happen?

Cheers

Is the pid file being overwritten?
Out of memory?
Competing process on the same port?
Bad disk?

What do the logs/error logs say?

How are you determining that apache/httpd is "hung"??? That's a little ambiguous to begin with....

Do a netstat, and look at your connections.

I am having similar problems, and have smtp traffic when this happens. Have had apache running for years, and this started several weeks ago.

Mine does clear up after the smtp releases.
