I used up2date the RedHat web update facility, now my apache server returns this when I try and atart it:

/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart
Stopping httpd: [FAILED]
Starting httpd: [Tue Apr 16 19:44:26 2002] [error] Can't locate strict.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.0/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl . /etc/httpd/ /etc/httpd/lib/perl) at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0/i386-linux/Apache.pm line 3.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0/i386-linux/Apache.pm line 3.
Compilation failed in require at (eval 1) line 3.

any clues would be much appreciated.

It seems to be complaining about a Perl module. Is Perl installed and current? Are the paths correct for where Apache is looking for Perl stuff? Matt

If I can help, I will.

perl 5.6.1 installed, apache is looking in the right place too... puzzled me completely.
/usr/lib/perl5
5.6.0
5.6.1
site_perl

very odd...
all perms for perl are (and probably shouldn't be ) 775 ***************************************

OK fixed it ...
*note to self, always READ the logs of the up2date installs.
----------------------------------------------------
The new httpd.conf was copied into /etc/httpd/conf as httpd.conf.rpmnew

Why they don't make it backup your old one and overwrite it with the new one is beyond me.
I copied in the new one and I'm up and running again. ***************************************
