I know I can use a little "cron magic" to move a .htaccess file into a particular directory at a particular time, but I am wondering if there is an apache module or something else that may help what I am trying to do, which is basically open up a directory on the webserver for password authentication at a particular time, and then close it back down to all at a particular time.

TIA for any help..

Apache won't do this natively but you can write your own authentication module that would. You could do this in C or install mod-perl and do it in perl.
