I put my Linux systems behind the RP114 netgear router and now I cant get to Apache. (I am very new at this with Apache) when I type the IP I have from Cox at home in to the URL I get the User-name and password, I used to get the Apache default webpage. I went in to configure the router I opened port 80 and I also filter rule under
menu 21.3.3 from 'Action Matched=Drop' to 'Action Matched =Forward' Like NETGEAR techs suggested. Please help I would like to have a web server.

Thank you for any help

Hi,

Reading thru the manual it says :

"Although the router causes your entire local network to appear as a single machine to the Internet, you can make local servers for different services (for example, FTP or HTTP) visible and available to the Internet. This is done using the PORTS menu. From the Main Menu of the browser interface, under Advanced, click on PORTS to view the port forwarding screen....."

and also

"Local Web and FTP Server Example

If a local PC, with a private address of 192.168.0.33, acts as a Web and FTP server, configure the PORTS menu to forward ports 80 (HTTP) and 21 (FTP) to local address 192.168.0.33 as shown in Table 5-4.

Table 5-4. Port Table Entries (Example)
Port # Server IP Address
Default 0.0.0.0
80 (HTTP) 192.168.0.33
21 (FTP) 192.168.0.33

In order for a remote user to access this server from the Internet, the remote user must know the IP address that has been assigned by your ISP. If this address is 172.16.1.23, for example, an Internet user can access your Web server by directing the browser to The assigned IP address can be found in the Maintenance Status Menu, where it is shown as the WAN IP Address. "

The above is also referred to via Menu 15 - SUA Server Setup .

Clearly the router has an embedded webserver that is listening on port 80 and throws up that admin screen. However, presumably doing the above 'ports' config will bypass that such that inbound port 80 goes correctly to your apache box. The other option would be to change the port on which that listens to prevent a conflict with apache - I can't see how you do that though !

Hope this helps

You might want to check to see if your ISP blocks outgoing traffic on port 80. Most ISPs block outgoing http traffic on port 80 so what you can do is change apache to run on port 8080 or 8000.

First make sure apache is running and not cached.
I doubt that port 80 is blocked by your provider.
Then if you are trying to resolve a domain name, setup and use dns.

Hope this helps! Rninja
