Hello.
I am a bit experienced with apache on windows and linux, but am having a problem on some of my windows boxes running apache2. The problem is that they are getting overloaded and crashing/freezing constantly. The application is is serving mages for is running on a java background with ssl. Everything runs fine, but apache gets freaked out and seems to be overloaded. I am running this same setup on about 15 servers. The os is Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 Server. I have been trying to tweak the httpd.conf, but it doesnt seem to stay up much longer than before. I am using a distro of apache that does have and use mpm_winnt. I have made changes recently that seem to be heling now, but I dont know if it will stay stable. The changes are around threadsperchild. I have threadsperchild set at like 2400 now with the threadlimit set to about 2500. I have been considering moving the keepalivetimeout and timeouts to lower values to try and kill hung sessions sooner in case they are causing part of the problem. I have millions of applications coming in on these servers every day so it is critical that they stay up. As of now, I have been just making slight changes to apache and restarting it when it hangs.
Any ideas appreciated.
