Apache 2.0.39 installation on Win ME 1

After I installed Apache, it gave a message "successfully installed" when I looked at

http://localhost.

But after I configured Php4 to work with Apache, it gives the following error when I do the same thing as above.

"You don't have permission to access the requested directory. There is either no index document or the directory is read-protected.

Could anyone throw some light on this pls?

PHP 4 does not work with Apache 2.0.39 yet. You have to wait until PHP 4.2.2, or install Apache 2.0.36. -------------------------------------------

Hi rycamor,

Thanks. I could find only Apache 1.3.6 and 2.0.39 at the download site. Is it okay if I download 1.3.6 and try it again?

Could someone tell me how to "uninstall" apache 2.0.39 and php4. I installed both but there seems to be some compatibility issues. Per rycamor's suggestion I am thinking of installing Apache 1.3.26 first and then re-install php 4. Am I correct? Or, am I missing something?

Any help will be apapreciated.

Hi mate,

You dont need to uninstall PHP.

Just uninstall Apache and then install the other version.

To uninstall Apache is just the same as any other program on your machine if you installed via the MSI package.
