I'm upgrading to httpd 2.0.39 (L&G). Works fine. But I can't get PHP to work. Under Linux (RH 7.3) I've found some words for Windoz and for httpd 1.3.

Did you compile it yourself or use the RPM? The RPM version comes with PHP support compiled in. Did it work before the upgrade? Are you using the same httpd.conf?

I run on an NT box, but this should be same/similiar,

In httpd.conf:

LoadModule php4_module "c:\Program Files\Php4\sapi\php4apache2.dll"
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php

Hopefully this answers your question.
