I've got Apache 1.3 with SSL<br>When I add NameVirtualhosts settings to the config, it <br>wont start.<br><br>"go start" just says it cant start httpsd.<br><br>"httpsd -S" gives the result of parsing the config and <br>seems ok<br><br>"go configtest" says the syntax is OK<br><br>remove the namevirtualhosts and all is fine<br><br>help!!

I got it going eventually. What the O'Reilly book doesn't do is show you how to handle all combinations of virtual hosting/ host by ip address/ port based hosting.<br>Since SSL uses a port other than 80 and not one you'd necessarily want to use by default, bascically you need to specify for each virtual host a port number. And have an entry fro each port the domain uses.<br>If you dont specify a port number for some hosts (or specify *) you run the risk of having an overlap i.e. more than one definition for a given ip
