Apache 1.3.12 - 400 Bad Request

Hi
Lemme first confess that I dont know much about apache configuration in detail.

But I downloaded and compiled the apache 1.3.12 on AIX 4.3.3 and created some html pages using a tool and made it available.

But my problem is I am not able to see from the browser if I GIVE THE HOSTNAME in the address field. I am getting the followign problem.

Your Browser Sent a request that this server could not understand.

Client sent a malformed Host header

But the same is working fine if I type the IP address in the browser address field.

Any help please?
