I've done a site for a client which uses a few pop-up windows. Tested on IE and Netscape it's working fine but on the client's machine (a MAC OS 9.2) the pop-ups are being ignored. However when he goes on to other sites their pop-ups do appear.

Does anyone else have experience of this? Is there a little wrinkle in the AOL browser I'm missing? I've checked through his internet security settings and everything seems to be in order, javascript is enabled etc... Slainte

aol 7.0 and ie which is it's default browser are not compatible..any buttons you have calling javascript functions in aol 7.0 and ie will no longer work..i had the same problem a while back..only fix was for the users to switch back to aol 6.0..which was a darn joke..

i guess mr william gates in his ultimate wisdom put on the ky and gave aol the good one..aol never recalled their 7.0 browser to make it compatible with the new ie 6.0..there is i believe a lawsuit pending once again for mr gates..

all i know ewan..don't know how they plan on fixing the problem..

but anyways if the user is using 7.0..thats your problem..

Thanks for the info but the guy's using AOL 5 on a Mac and can see pop-ups on other sites, just not on the one I did for him. I've checked the code on the other sites that do work for him and it's the same basic javaScript so it's not even that.

I'm assuming that it's a Flash to Javascript issue but can't figure out a way round it. If anyone here uses AOL (especially on Mac) I'd appreciate it if you could check out and see if you get pop ups (there's one right at the start and all the "movie" links in "making the album" use external windows too).

I'd check myself but am violently opposed to AOL and refuse to cripple my machine by installing it ;-) Slainte

by the way thanks for the buttons today, ok..

a star for your efforts..

sorry about the aol and mac thing..but it always has to be something does it not?

have fun..
