Is anyone having any problems after upgrading to AOL 6.0 on Win 98 machines? A few users upgraded to AOL 6.0 and they are getting GPF's quite a bit. I have performed every maintenance step that I can think of and I can't find anything wrong anywhere and doing an uninstall of AOL is not an option (for it seems to be complicated and a pain) so if anyone else has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!
Thanks

Not sure if this will be your fix but I remember figuring out a propblem that AOL couldnt tell me about...it had to do with the wsock32 file. I think it was 21k. It had to be 40K or 65K. it is in the windows\system folder. You have to change the attributes to do this.

Its a start, but I stopped using AOL a long time ago. I cant imagine why anyone would want to upgrade..i mean how much more easier can it get?!

gpwolf,

Thanks for the help....I'll try it and see what happens.

Happy Holidays!

aol 6.0 is truly the most terrible software, aol has ever put out.. i've come across so many problems with my friends machines, and people at work.. i've had tons of things, from totally ruining printing connections, corrupting modem files, and even showing an anoying "error" message every minute (exactly).. my suggestion, don't put aol 6.0 on your computer.. it looks like girly sesame street anyway.. 6.0 has promise.. i mean, who doesn't like those little faces in the im window.. but i truly can't stand it anymore.. stick with 5.0

I used AOL 5 on a Win95 machine but had heaps of problems. Tried uninstalling AOL, but that trashed the OS and I had to do a complete re-install. Re-installed everything worked OK for a while then all sorts of wierd problems again. Again tried to uninstall AOL and OS trashed again. Wouldn't use their setup at any price.
