The place I want to work at recommends knowing indesign, quark, and photoshop (for a graphic design position). They design things like print advertisments, business stationary, and various publications.

I heard indesign is similar to quark... so I'm just going to focus on this program for now. The thing is though, I have no idea how indesign works. I'm not even sure about what makes it so good / useful. Is there a tutorial somewhere that starts off with the very basics?.... because that's what I need lol.

Also this isn't directly related to indesign, but does anyone know where I might be able learn more about the technical things that would relate to this job? Like I don't know the official formats and resolutions used for various print jobs. Also a lot of terminology they use relating to their printers I don't understand. Today someone was talking about PDF-X/1a and PDF-X/3... I have no idea what that is.

I'm confident in my design capabilities, and it does sound like these people would be willing to work with me. I just dont want to walk into an interview being completely clueless to a lot of the things that I'll need to know.

If they require InDesign knowledge then it is pretty clear that you would be walking in completely clueless if you have not used it.

Make sure that you have downloaded the 30-day trial of InDesign so you at least know how it functions.

For crash courses in software I have always liked lynda.com. You can pay $25 a month for unlimited video tutorials. You may only need one month to get up to speed with InDesign.

Well in the ad they said "is helpful" when talking about the programs. So like I said... they would probably work with me.

And yes I have the trial lmfao. That's actually why I'm in a rush. The place I want to work is always looking for help because of people leaving (they are treated poorly and underpaid). So I'm not in an actual rush to get the job.

I just don't have a spare $700 lmfao. I need to make sure I get the most out of this trial.
