I've been trying to Virtulise an Ubuntu server on a Win 2003 server for playing with but i can't get it to boot It installs from the ISO file i then reboot and it gets as far as 'Uncompressing Linux... ok booting kernel.' then it just pauses. If i boot the desktop version as a live CD it runs ok so it appears to be ok with the hardware.

I have used Virtualbox to host other OS's so i'm pretty sure i've set it up correctly, i've also setup and run Ubuntu servers before (not as a virtual OS) so i'm pretty sure i'm ok with that.

Any ideas?

it might be worth checking the hard drive "ide" hardware section of the virtual setup

they work better if you select scsi type rather than ide's

Someone else suggested that but i could only find multiple IDE options no settings to emulate SCSI.

In the end turning off ACPI emulation seemed to get it working?

Cheers.
