The outgoing caller ID on the phone system is wrong and needs to be changed but we can't figure out how to change it. The LEC says they are sending the right number out of our lines. I've never used this system before and don't have an admin guide. Can someone point me in the right direction?

The caller ID is showing the number of a residence and we have about 500 employees at this location. I need to get it changed ASAP. I'm not at the physical location and I'm working with a guy who was shoved into the phone "admin" position when the other phone guy quit.

HELP!?!

What type of trunks are you using?

How long has this been going on?

What has "changed"? New trunks added? Trunks removed. PBX restorted form a back up? etc etc

If it is not ISDN then odds are the telco is providing the calling party numbner not your PBX. The fact they claim they are sending it correctly means rather little.

Givne that you have 500 employees there is a good chance that you are on PRI.

If you have access to a PRI or BRI and a protocol analyzer for PRI or BRI call from the PBX into the analyzer and capture the call setup. (Or call into an ISDN PBX that you have the ability to captire protocol logs on).

Post that here - it will determine if the caller ID is "user" or "network" provided. If user provided it will indicate if it has been "screened".

Good luck.
