Is anyone using a Flash MX user interface with ASP.NET on the server side? If so, what has your experience been? Is Flash Remoting MX necessary, or can you interact with ASP.NET without it? Comments are much appreciated.

Thanks :)

I am using a Flash MX user interface with ASP.NET on the server side.

Flash objects are called - sometimes from an XML file - but no information from the user is ever inputted into Flash that relates to .NET.

I just posted a thread about a glitch we're having, and am wondering the same thing as you.

Do I need to do something else?
Do I need to use remoting? (I don't even know what remoting is right now)

Good luck... if you get any info., pass along my way - and I'll do the same for you!

Regards,

Adam

Macromedia's website indicates that Flash Remoting MX enables you to use a Flash front-end with an ASP.NET back-end. All of their examples use the combination. It costs about $1,000 for a one processor license. For 4 processors the cost is substantially higher. What the site doesn't address is whether or not you "have" to use remoting to integrate the two.

I was hoping that there was a way to accomplish this without Flash Remoting. It seems that I saw a thread somewhere that said you could. Information on the subject is very difficult to find.

What is the difference between Flash Remoting MX (which costs $1,000 minimum) and Flash Remoting MX Components (which appear to be free)?

being to tight to pay $1000 and finding that for my needs the components are all i require i have never bothered to find out.
