We are running PS4 and publishing a desktop-

Anyone ever done this using Adobe Acrobat Pro? Can anyone give me any pointers?? other than just installing it?

We've had problems with Adobe Pro (ver6) on our XPe farm. Just thought I'd throw this out there to see how everyone else is doing it?

MANY THANKS!

Brandon

bran2235,
I've installed Adobe Acrobat Pro on a Citrix server and......it's not pretty.
lol

Sorry to tell you that.
Here is what I've found (the hardway).
1. You have to always have an administrator logged into the console. (My serves were 2k3 so I just used the "Remote Desktops" utility and logged in as an administrator)
2. You have to modify a setting in the Adobe application to work with the Office product. If you don't do this, it will generate errors when you try to convert from Excel, Word, PowerPoint to PDF format.

Here is a pdf document you might want to read.
After you do all the pre-req's...it shouldn't be that bad.

Hope that helps out.

In addition to the valid and correct points above there is now a specific Acrobat license for Citrix Servers which does make some changes in the way things operate.

Enigma and Mike- thank you...!!

Enigma: I've heard that before (about having to be logged in as an Admin at the console, create a pdf, lock the console, etc.)- but I also heard that this was fixed in Acrobat Pro Version 7??? Had you heard the same?

Mike: when you say there is an "Acrobat Pro License for Citrix Servers" I assume you are referring to a different product/software made by Adobe- right? Can you please let me know the name of this? I've got the approval to buy the license(s) - I just want to make sure it will work beforehand...

Many THANKS!
Brandon

bran2235 - I cannot find the specific info on the Terminal Server/Citrix version and maybe you would be best talking to Adobe or a reseller direct about it just to be sure.

The only reference i can find is the "Acrobat Application Server version" and this was a multi-user license product & specific version.

I would give you a URL if i could find one.

bran2235/MikeBatters,
Just by reading the pdf it looks like the issue with the admin being logged into the console has been resolved.

I installed 6x before and I did require an admin on the console.
Also, it looks like you have to buy a copy that does NOT have an activation prompt. They mention in the pdf that any RETAIL version (which does prompt for activation) does not work with a WTS or "Citrix" environment.

But I would also check with an Adobe vendor (like Mike suggested) just to verify which version you need.

Hope that helps.
