Had a doc (4.11 - Mac platform - saved to a windows server) that crapped out last week and now get the dreaded bad file format error [70] - wondered if anyone had used the MW tools that supposedly recovers this.
Thanks, Mark - I tried that one and the color palette trick (that's only ever worked for me once). Didn't really want to spend the $200 on an extension if someone would try for me. My boss actually did this last week while I was on vacation...
$200? to type qxd after the file name?
Wow I'd only ask $100 for it
The only Markzware software I use is FlightCheck.
Sorry, I can't dream up another way to recover your file.
Mark
Thanks Mark - it's actually Markztools or some such - I've never used - but looks to be the only xtension that says it can recover. I did try the .qxd and moving to different locations and the color palette trick that quark recommends and opening on a different platform. Oh, well - it's only about 36 pages to recreate. ARGHH!
We did use it to recover a couple of files. It required a lot of cleaning up however. But, did save time in recreating the entire thing. Depending on your document, and how complex it is, it may be worth looking into. Unfortunately we are on OS10X now and I believe it is not supported.
Perhaps you can find a copy on ebay at a good price?
