anyone tried using the amp sl 110 termination tool

Has anyone tried using the amp sl 110 termination tool with blackbox gigabase2 universal jacks. I called amp to see if they thought they were compatible. I'd have been better off asking my eight year old.

From what I've read, this cool-looking tool is designed to work with "SL Series" type jacks. You can see what one looks like at

The Gigabase2 jacks from Black Box (

are manufactured in the 110Connect style, which suggests to me that they would be incompatible.

Run this information by your kid and post back. :O)

From the picture in the PDF link the AMP SL jacks look just like the HiDensity ICC jacks, and the BlackBox jack looks like the Leviton jacks.

All I use when I terminate the jacks is my Dracon D714 tool with the 110 blade set to low tension. Never had any problem with terminations... From my experience with 88 and 110 connectors over the years as long as the blade is sharp and proper practices are followed, no problem regardless of manufacturer.

I did not see any picture of the AMP SL tool in the PDF...

I went to AMP's website to see the SL tool. Very interesting, but the fixture layout probably will only work with AMP SL jacks, unless someone copies the jack terminal layout.

So for RANDALSW the answer is NO! The tool won't work on the BlackBox jacks!

The tool is junk. Our wiring guy likes it, but i use the term "wiring guy" loosley at best! I like the old harris dracon.....hate change!
