We are probably going to be getting Pervasive for an application we are purchasing (thus I am new to Pervasive), but I am wondering how well MS SQL and Pervasive SQL can share the same server?? Anyone have experiences to share? Most other applications we are looking at use MS SQL, so it would be great to have all the SQL apps share the same server.

Thanks.

Both MS SQL and Pervasive.SQL can run on the same box. You'll need to make sure that enough resources (RAM, HD space, processing power) are available so that performance doesn't suffer. info@mirtheil.com

We have both running on the same server and we've never had any problems....

Thanks. We will be buying a new server, so I don't expect resources to be a problem. I have my SQL book here, but I haven't had a chance to go through it. From what I have heard, you can run multiple databases in MS SQL as well. We currently have a MS SQL 6.5 database and two MS SQL 7 databases (running on old servers using a stripped down version that came with the programs) and I was hoping to move those databases to the new server as well.

We are looking at the Dell 1500/1600SC. Probably dual 2.0 Xeon, with GBs of RAM using RAID 10.

Btw, are there any good resources for learning the tricks of Pervasive? I have several MS SQL books. Thanks again.
