We have a new IBM e-Server with Unix. The president of my company wants to find a tool like query400 from AS/400 for a Unix, specifically AIX, environment?
Any takers? TIA!

Thanks,

It depends on what database you are using (Oracle, Informix, DB2?)

keep in mind the AS400 was designed as a database server running proprietary software. Its database is so tightly wound up in the OS. That's why you can have an AS400 app called query400. What database application are you using?

One very good query tool that works with a number of databases is Business Objects. (in fact it can work with them to aggrigate data between databases)

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Matt, Informix would have a way to query its databases. There are three Informix forums in Tek-Tips which you might find useful. Good luck!

A good Windows based query tool for accessing a variety of Unix DB's is one called "Advanced Query Tool"

From the site:

In todays heterogeneous environment you want a tool which can access more than one type of database. AQT has been developed for, and is in common use, on the following:
DB2/UDB, DB2/390, DB2/400
Oracle
MS SQL Server
Sybase ASE
Sybase Anywhere
Informix
MySQL
Pervasive.SQL
SQLBase
MS Access
Excel
