Anyone know of a GOOD step by step, idiot's guide to configuring NTP to point to an outside server on Red Hat 8.0? Because that's what I need. Focus on the idiot's guide part.

I tried configuring to outside server but it keeps reverting to my local server.

If you just want it up and running and don't care much about security etc, just place your organization/isp's timeserver's IP in /etc/ntp.conf in lines under '# --- OUR TIMESERVERS -----'. Just replace 'mytrustedtimeserverip' with proper IP, remove # at the beginning of these lines... and probably place the same IP into /etc/ntp/step-tickers. /etc/init.d/ntpd start and everything should work OK.
