We have two 8600's in our core. I know some networks have quad 8600's for cores. Anyone have a mixed environment of dual 8600's and dual Cisco 6500's for a core?

I haven't in production, but a few years ago while evaluating products I did a few basic tests of 8600-6500 hookups (OSPF, MLT/SMLT/Etherchannel, Physical Layer, ect). Everything I tried worked, but of course it was a test lab with 8 PCs. :)

As a side note they've been pushing their Nexus switches in recent conversations I've had with them, and the 6500 platform has certainly been out a long time.

Agree on the Nexus/ 6500 comment but I would assume if anyone had something running production it would be 8600/ 6500. I would assume anyone running Nexus would have bought them in the past 6-8 months and running a pure Cisco core and not a combo, and thus not on this board.

Not sure a mixed core would be such a good idea.

I have a 1600-1600 VRRP core in one place which is 100% Nortel, and a 6500-6500 VSS core elsewhere which is Cisco/3COM.
