Many years ago I installed countless numbers in Southern CA.
Very flexible software on both items. Had many features no one else was doing at the time such as record, answering machine emulation etc.all on a small key/hybrid system.
Only problem was the hardware was horrible. The SLI adapters on ONYX VS for the NVM ports would constantly fail and the power supplies in the NVM were would die if you looked at them side ways.
Best thing that ever happened to Nitsuko was being bought by NEC. The Superior software (Nitsuko) finally had a superior hardware (NEC) manufacturer.
thanks for the input pave.....i have this problem see if you can help me figure it out...i'm a avaya tech has no clue on this system whatsoever but a friend got a lease of an office space and it comes with this system.
being a total stranger to this system, i managed to figured out how those analog interface box work on a onyx to connect to 4 port pc-nvm 202. it was an used system and currently have mailboxes for extension 300 to 307, but my current extensions are 313 to 318. cannot add or delete mailboxes via SA or DM...how do i do mailbox maintainence? and i thought i have programmed everything right but when an intercom calls extension 300 isn't it supposed to hit vm since 300 had vm already setup and the vm computer up and running?
i did:
program 14 - circuit type 51 for port 09 to 12
program 18 - assigned vx
program 3 - vx = Y and vx master extension = 309
-program 19 - UCD hunt group 5, master = 309, overflow = 309, members = 310,311,312
thanks in advance..

It's been a long time since I touched one of these. 1996 if I'm lucky was the last time I touched one.
You should be able to access the VM with procomm or hyperterminal via the small 9 pin comport on the back of the PC. If I remember correct the default settings were 9600, N, 8,1. The VM is DOS menu driven and you should be able to add the mailboxes from there.
If the Onyx has an AUX card it too will have a 9 pin com port from which you can use your PC. It's default setting I think was 300, N, 8,1. Once again menu driven and a little easier than the phone I thought.
As for 300 I don't believe it will recall/forward to VM as it is the operator and is expected to be always answered.
The only reason to have this station in some installations was to allow the Night Mode operation. You may want to use another extension other than this one.
I just found some old notes on the Nitsuko Onyx and VM. I can fax them if you like. They are not in electronic form.
