Doing one this week end first time..

been studying the documentation I am happy with what I need todo..

Can anyone who has done come across any gotchas to look out for ?

all-so in one document it states the personalised greetings will be erased on mailboxes and in another is dose not, can anyone confirm this ?

If its not broke tweak it..

I will do one in few weeks and was reading the DMM guide as well.
From what it says, all personnalized greetings should remain;

"If it is desired to expedite the migration process
then un-checking this box such that voicemails are not migrated (note that mailbox prompts and greetings are
always migrated) will ensure a reasonably deterministic expected duration for the extract and apply processes."

As well i'm not too sure about the revision of the DMM tool because the one available on Nortel website is version 1.01 and in the doc it's up to 1.04(that does fix other stuff...)

Im in the process of doing one right now and having a major problem. I ordered the bcm400 to 450 5.0 software and hardware upgrade kit. The problem is I don't have a keycode to upgrade the 450 r1 to r5. There is a keycode migration keycode that transfers the old keycodes, but it doesn't upgrade to 5.0. Therefore KRS thinks its an r1 and the keycode will not apply to the transformed 450. I have all the parts listed in the bundle. Im opening a ticket with Nortel er AVAYA, but alas don't expect anything soon as its midnight on friday. Is there something I don't know? I'll keep ya posted.

Please do im doing one today did you apply the keycode with the DMM tool

If its not broke tweak it..

Also did you patch the 450 before you tried to apply the keycode

If its not broke tweak it..

bluemr2: I now have the exact same problem KRS recognises the 450 system as R1 not R5 so the key code is useless

Their is not any 450 r1 to r5 keycode mentioned anywhere in the documentation or task based guides, my upgrade pack is correct with every piece of documentation I can find..

I think Nortel have screwed up royally on this one, either KRS is not recognising the 450 sys ID as being v5 or they are bundling the wrong migration codes (even if the documentation says it is correct)

BTW I phone the support line any spoke to someone who quite clearly didn`t have a clue what I was talking about and was reading from a script..

She said the only way she could help me was if i gave her a sys id of the system and they have to be 8 numeric digits (what ever) and the system phone number, what why the hell do they need the system phone number ITS NOT WORKING !!! anyway the conversation promptly ended after I explain to the Nortel representative that BCM sys ids have more that 8 digits and are a mix of letter and numbers so can I give her that info she requires...

Sorry for the rant but their ineptness has infuriated me today.. i should be used to it by now

You are exactly right. I checked my box, thinking there should be an extra keycode. But I checked every part number and everything was included. I also rechecked the upgrade bundle thinking it might have said bcm 400 to 450 upgrade, and I missed the upgrade keycode. The bundle is clearly named bcm 400 4.0 to bcm 450 r5 upgrade though. I opened the case last night, but specified it as minor as they aren't really down. Probably won't hear from them til monday. Sucks though, cause im gonna have to do another extract, because they want their current vmail messages to convert. So basically I wasted 4 to 5 hours. Good thing I doubled Nortels estimated time in the quote, and the customer is a tech company and understand this kind of thing. They even know they're the guinea pigs, so we scheduled accordingly.

I just got an email from nortel. they fixed the problem in krs and I have uploaded the keycode file successfully.

wich part of the site did you log a ticket ?

If its not broke tweak it..

Well they have not fixed KRS they have converted your sys ID to R5 because mine is still showing as R1 i have opened a ticket now

If its not broke tweak it..

I opened a nortel trouble ticket. you're right. They went in individually and just changed the keycode for my sysID.

I will be doing one next week and received the kit last week. All the hardware is there and an authorization code for a 450 Keycode Migration From BCM200 400 1000 Rel 4.0 Part #NTC01076KC.

Is that the same thing you received? I would sure like to avoid that nightmare if I could.

Thanks.

Yes it is, the Keycode says Release 001 on the envelope
all so get your 450 sys id and goto KRS/ Generate keycode put the sys id in and the next page shows you the software version if it say 450.01 krs thinks its a release 1 system

If its not broke tweak it..

My keycode has been converter to V5 now need to go back and finish the upgrade now

If its not broke tweak it..

I've heard back from Nortel again. They said this issue will be fixed as a whole next week. Famous last words.

I would get the keycode generated well before the upgrade to insure the KRS sees it as a 5.0. And if it doesn't, then this will give you enough time to get with KRS Support and get the issue resolved.

I'm finishing the apply now that I have the keycode. It's hit or miss whether the migration works or not. I tested an apply last night and 1 of the 3 dsm didn't migrate. now I'm doing it live and 2 of the 3 dsm's didn't apply. On neither attempt did vmail messages or mailbox configuration migrate. This DMM is looking like junk.

Just to let you know I finish my V5 upgrade today, went ok I did not ave any major issues with DMM all my programming was converted with the exception of routes and destination codes, voice mail greetings and name prompts where kept, I did not migrate messages to speed up the migration process..

The Nortel upgrade doc is missing lots of detail about the upgrade procedure, I followed the Task Based guide on V5 upgrades and that fills in all the blanks.

I did have a minor issue with Target lines not working, I traced the problem to a setting on the DTM module, the incoming digits should have been 6 but was set to 8.

All-so the Findme/Follow me function works really well and is one of the best new features I have seen on a system for a while.
