Hi!
I am planning to take the 70-294 exam the next week. Been preparing for a while now ... and feel ready to take the actual test. I´ve read that the 70-294 exam (among others) should be introduced to simulation tasks in june this year. This does not scare me, cause I have done my homework properly (both when it comes to reading and practicing the tasks required for the test).

My question is: Have anyone taken any of the new simulation based exams? What can I expect? How much of the exam is question-based ... and how much of the exam is simulation based?

Would be nice to get some input on this ... so I know what I am going to.

tuliphead,

While Microsoft does indeed state that they'll be adding simulations to 70-293 and 70-294 in June ( I haven't heard from anyone yet that they've encountered simulations on 70-294 specifically.

I'd be interested to hear from someone who's taken this exam recently as well, as I have it scheduled for later this month.

I'd also like to hear anything anyone's got one this one.

With the new questions comming out soon, I'd better get in there and take this thing already.

Hi,

I was lucky enough to pass this one yesterday (863). Thanks to advice I got from guys off this site. There are no sims on this one yet but from what I gather they're nothing to worry about.

My study was on the MS Press book and I found that going through the labs was good for practice but if I am honest the exam doesn't require you to have done this. Although it helps of course.

Make sure you know Group Policies and Group scope pretty well. Also the use of Universal Membership caching and GC placement along with site liks and their usage will help.

My advice is to try Trancender tests as these are pretty close to the real thing.

Roary :)

roary,

Thanks for your review of the 70-294 exam. Do you remember how may questions were on it? Any other specific topics that you think were tested heavily?

I'm not sure when I'll be ready to take it, but I don't want to have to take it twice.

There were 35 questions in 95 minutes.

In addition to my last note there were also a few questions on troublshooting DC failures, non-authoritive and authoritive restores etc.

Be sure to know applying group policies, groups and permissions.

Also sites, bridghead servers, replication scheduling and GC and DC placement

I would say that most of the exam was on group policy, OU's and permissions. :)

having passed this one too, and i got 940ish :) i'd agree totally with roary's review!

absolutely spot on actually!

and good luck to those passing soon.... let us know (of course you will ;-))

aftertaf,

What did you feel was the best preparation for the 70-294? The material in the MS Press book is so dry that I can't seem to get motivated to read it. I know I should, and eventually I will, but then I'll need to practice up for the exam.

Even if it is a while ago, I just wanted you to know that I passed the 70-294 exam with ease.

Used the MS Press book ... and it covers it all
