Polycom has OEM aggreements to build phones for other PBX types, like the Cisco branded IP Conference room phones we use on our Cisco CM. Avaya also rebrands. If you ask, our people still call it a Polycom so the brand name is big. I am sure there are others plus a ton of analog Polycom conference room phones out there. For Asterix you can probably use the Polycom since the standards are set like h.323 or SIP
not sure it can be "any" IP platform, but most large manufacturers like Avaya, Cisco, Nortel, Miccosoft are partners with Polycom. Obviosuly the Polycom analog solutions will work most anywhere and most standards based IP endpoints can register with an IP PBX.
I've got Tandberg video devices on my desk here, T150 and 1000MXP, registering (and working without video) to my Avaya IP Office LAB system and also, if allowed, with the Cisco CM sitting behind that system.
They do Generic SIP versions, so can work any SIP system. We have one on a TeleVantage System. However, we prefer the conference phones on ATA (analogue Telephny adpaters) as it works out a lot, lot, cheaper!
Only the truly stupid believe they know everything.
