I just got my ACA certification and want to move on to an ACS. Just trying to gauge how difficult this test is.

Any info would be great!

Thanks!

It is fairly easy imo.

If you have a decent understanding via ACA in data networking (or already had it) you will likely find the core part easier.

I am not sure...I would give you my old stuff but I completed it long enough ago that it would probably lead you astray.

If you got a 90 on your ACA and have some solid CM experience you should breeze through the core....Now the specializations are a bit tougher. IP telephony implementation was probably the most difficult of the ones I took (ACA- and two different ACS certs).

Good luck with your Cert :)

I just sat it, there were 62 questions pass mark was 62%
It was more in depth than the ACA implement and had some questions on Linux, Port numbers, Authentication, to name a few. I found it quite a bit more difficult but not too bad, I walked away with 75%

Notbroke,

Thank you for the info. Ill start studying in the next couple weeks and go for it. What elective are you going to go after? I was thinking about starting off with the Messaging one then going to the IP Telephony. If I can get those two, might as well get one more and get the ACE.

Thanks!

I passed the ACS core exam and as someone wrote before, if you have a high score on ACA you will do well.

In my opinion it is doable to become ACE but you have to have lots of time to maintain that status.

I think the messaging ACS is a little bit more difficult than the ip telephony.

The nice thing of becoming ACS is that you get a very nice leather laptop bag....

i obtained the ipt elective and working on the call center elective. I did the beta for call center but did not pass it. I hope to get the cms i&m training in england in Q2

Congrats! I was thinking about the IPT elective as well. What does it focus on? Is it setting up VoIP Trunk groups and network regions?

If so then I should be able to pass this elective quite easily.

avayafreakje,

ace is not even doable, it's easy and cheap. the previous version of expert level (when you were required to get acs on ip telephony AND three more of acs: ivr, pds and aic) was tougher but i was late completing it -- just scheduled my last exam for august and they changed the rules 26th july, so i've missed the chance. bastards.
maintaining it is not time consuming at all. just last week i've received an e-mail stating that "since exam requirements didn't change, your ace certification was renewed" -- till 2008. doesn't take any effort to maintain it, really. :)
how was call center? did you try design or implement? i think i shoulda take 'em both, but don't have any time. :( it's a shame really...

I think Im going to get my ACS in IPT, Messaging, and PDS. We'll see though.

Avayafreak when you have a chance let me know what the IPT test focuses on.

Thanks!

the ipt test does focus on simplex en complex installation; i.e. S8300/S8500/S8700

The most important part of this certification track is the networking part. The things you`ve had to learn for aca core come back in this exam buth with much more detailed information.

if you have that experience just go to the exam and you probably will see that it is not that hard. Maybe the core part is the hardest because it goes about stuff you do not all use in your daily work. The elective part is very doable if you maintain and install these electives...

Sometimes you better not talk but just go for it....

Avayafreak...did you pass the IPT elective on the first try? If you didnt, was the test different the second time around, or was it the same questions?

Thanks!

i passed the test the first time. Lets put it like this, if you do the curriculum assessment on the university website and pass with a reasonable score you will pass on ipt. I guess there will be more than one assessment for the elective. This is also the case with the online assessments. It looks like there is a big box with questions and with every assessment they pull out some questions at random.

As a businesspartner you get 100% refund for training. So if you dont pass the first time you loose nothing but maybe your own confidence..

Avayafreak,

I just passed the ACS implementation core exam yesterday. LOL Didnt get a great score but still passed. In your last post you said if you take the curriculum assessment on the Avaya training site and pass you will do okay with the ACS...are you talking about the Avaya IP Telephony Implement and Maintain Curriculum assessments? Please clarify. I have obtained 4 ACA's and 2 of them are in Implement and Maintain IP Telephony and I want to take my elective exams and get them over with so I can be done with this whole certification process. Its quite time consuming.

Thanks!
