I am running through a LAN and it just seems like things should be moving a bit faster. Right now it feels like i am using a dialup. is there anything i can do to inprove the speed with eather my ethernet card or my Windows 98 or maybe even my browser? any info would help thanks for your time.

You can try this tweak.

Run regedit and find this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP

Create (or modify) a string value named 'DefaultRcvWindow' and set it to '4288'.

Then create (or modify) a string value named 'DefaultTTL' and set it to '128'.

Exit regedit and reboot your computer.

Don't attempt this trick unless you are familiar with the registry editor and understand the possible consequences of fooling with the registry.

If this doesn't boost your performance (at least a little), post back and we'll find another way.
