Ping is the not the right word... please allow me to explain. I support a server remotely that has the following in Control Panel > Devices:

Intel(R) 82801 EB Universal Host Controller - 24D2
Intel(R) 82801 EB Universal Host Controller - 24D4
Intel(R) 82801 EB Universal Host Controller - 24D7
Intel(R) 82801 EB Universal Host Controller - 24DE
Intel(R) 82801 EB USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 24DD

Does this mean we have 5 USB ports?

We want to plug a USB2 device into the USB2 port. We don't have the motherboard manual or model number.

Is there a way to tell, from the outside of the machine, which of the USB ports is the USB2 port? Is there a way to tell which of these USB ports our device is plugged into?

We could pug/unplug and test, but that's a little cumbersome, particularly for my user... is there a better way?

Thanks...

If there is a USB 2 device in the machine, the machine will roll the USB 2 port to it. If you have no other USB 2 "ports" available, it will use 1.1. It will always use the 2.0 first though.

skialta, nice tool!

And E1Designs, thanks for that bit of knowledge...
