We've got an option 81 w/callpilot.
I would like find some way to play a .wav file over our PA in order to test speakers. Feedback is a big problem here. I have a Spectralink handset and if I try to page while standing within range of the speaker, it get feedback.
My other option is to have someone page me.
I'm trying to get a paging buffer funded, but, that's down the road.

Look at a little box called a Skutch box that goes inline with your phone. You can play audio direct in line.

Scratch that...

I just checked their site and they don't offer the model we used and the new one is $144.00 a little steep for what you get from it.

If you have callpilot, maybe you could add your PA to your RPL and have callpilot callout to your PA when recording a prompt and play it over the PA? Never tried it.

We use a peice of equipment (Viking Model FBI-1a) in our warehouse that we send the page code to it, it records the message, then when you hang up it plays the page message twice over the speakers.

we did something simular here.. they wanted to play a .wav when a baby was born. (great idea)... so i built an anouncement service with the recording (import to cp) then the att did a conf to that service and the overhead paging trunk.. we tested it twice and they never used it.. to distracting
