hi experts,

I have been tasked with presenting a list of all the versions of Oracle that are installed on any of our servers.

I know we have some Oracle 7.9 databases and some Oracle 10g databases and probably others.

Is there a command or a script you may have that reports the names of the servers that have Oracle installed - or even better, the names of the Release number too ?

If you have something that will work for Windows networks that would help. We also have Oracle installed on UNIX as well.

Thanks for any ideas. John

Do you have a complete tnsnames.ora file?
If you do, you will find the list of servers under the "HOST" entry.

If you know the system password for all databases, then you could write a script that connects to each database and does a "SELECT * FROM V$VERSION;".

Good luck! [3eyes]
