When you have a customer that is inactive (whatever your definition of inactive is) you go into the customer card and use the 'inactive' check box - this removes the customer from the lists of customers and all kinds of 'wonderful' things (ymmv).

SO - we have a number of Sales Items that we want to inactivate similar to what you can do with a customer. Simply changing it to 'Discontinued' does not remove it from any of the lists so that is not the solution I am wanting. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH - there IS a field in the IV00101 that is called 'INACTIVE', but simply changing it from 0 to 1 does not do anything that I can see (like removing from any list or warning you if you use that item in an order)

We are on V9 sql2005

aside from telling the user 'do not use the inactive items' - anyone got any ideas? Right now we just update the description with INACTIVE at the front of the desc, but that does not have the desired effect either.

We had this issue as well, and recently were shown the Active Lists which are at the bottom left of your shortcuts (unless you removed them).

You can filter out your lookup lists and do pretty much any action you would normally do off the menu. It has a full text search as well, our guys really like it.

Hope this helps.
